Ortho Screenings In Cypress, TX
By Dr. Shannon Pham
A variety of tooth and jaw issues open up the door to orthodontics in a growing child. Dr. Pham may point out that your child's baby teeth appear crowded, or the relationship between the jaws isn't ideal. While not generally the time for treatment, it may help you prepare for the possibility of future corrective care. As permanent teeth start to appear, usually around age 6, Dr. Pham monitors the process further and helps you decide if early orthodontic treatment makes sense.
Although the majority of cases involve teenagers, braces can play a role for some kids in their earlier years. Since permanent teeth are typically larger than baby teeth, space may need to be opened with the gentle force of braces. This allows teeth to move into place properly, helping avoid more extensive treatment later.
A narrow jaw or a large overbite may create a similar dilemma. Guiding jaw growth while your child's developing can make a tremendous difference in the long-term outcome. Once the growth stops in teen years, the only corrective measure often involves surgery...always a good scenario to avoid when possible.

The Usual Track
Many youngsters benefit the most from orthodontics after baby teeth fall out and permanent teeth move into place. This classic case may start in the early teen years, leaving a nicely aligned and highly functional set of teeth going into adulthood. The length of time spent wired-up can vary, but average treatment time often falls around two years.
A variety of methods allow orthodontic treatment to solve nearly every possible scenario that appears, but successful treatment relies on good patient compliance. Wearing elastic bands consistently, keeping follow-up appointments for adjustments, and practicing outstanding home care can lead to a positive outcome. This commitment involves frequent preventive visits with your hygienist as well, a strategy that helps avoid cavities around brackets. The Emmy Dental Of Cypress team specializes in helping our orthodontic patients enjoy a successful outcome: a gorgeous, healthy smile.

Dr. Pham and her team is amazing. She is very patient and kind. Her staff provides great customer service and are very welcoming. She is thorough with the examinations and explains what the procedures entail very well. She is gentle and careful with all procedures. I had a deep clean and 2 wisdom teeth extracted. I highly recommend her if you need to go see a dentist but are fearful.

I've avoided going to the dentist for most of my life because of past traumatic experiences, but I had an emergency and found emmy dental. I immediately felt at ease in their office, all staff were welcoming and had a calming presence. Dr. Shannon Pham was so gentle and never made me feel insecure about the state of my teeth. She genuinely cares about her work and it's obvious. I've already recommended Emmy dental to a friend.

My sister comes to place for her check up every 6 months. The staff and the orthodontist have been really professional, very kind, and knowledgeable. They take her serious and they have empathy whenever she complains about something hurting in her mouth. I love this place, I highly recommend.

Dr. Pham is awesome. I get terrible anxiety after getting the numbing shots before getting a filling fixed or a new one. In past experiences with other dentists I’ve even nearly passed out, gotten super dizzy, thrown up, sweating, etc….
Dr Pham was the first dentist to offer me laughing gas, so I tried it, and it worked. I felt calm, I didn’t have a panic attack, my vitals all normalized.
I can’t believe none of the other dentists offered me this even after my complaints. I appreciate Dr. Pham considering my issues instead of just forcing me through a procedure.
