Teen’s Dentistry Cypress TX

By Dr. Shannon Pham

Dental health during teen years offers another set of challenges. For most parents, this doesn't come as a big surprise. A dizzying number of changes strike during these formative years, and parents often experience a few frustrations along the way.

But teens listen more than we realize, and pestering parents can make a tremendous difference in the dental future of these young adults. Oral home care habits tend to slide, sometimes to the point of complete neglect. Increased independence may lead to eating and drinking habits that harm oral and overall health. Don't underestimate any encouragement given to help your teen avoid the long-term effects of cavities and gum inflammation.

Preventive visits every six months provide us with an opportunity to coach your teen and reinforce the efforts you're making with them. Sometimes the rapport we establish in a professional, yet friendly, setting proves especially effective. Plus we can share problems with them through visual aids while reinforcing any positive efforts they're making.

Tips For Home Efforts That Protect Your Teen's Dental Health:

Inlays

Onlays

Onlays are similar to inlays in that they fill a missing hole caused by a cavity, but onlays extend onto the chewing surface of a tooth to replace one or more cusps. Traditionally, they were also only made of gold, but tooth-colored onlays have made an appearance in dentistry. An onlay is considered a more effective option for patients with large cavities or the decayed area expands over the top of the tooth.

The process of inlays and onlays both involve bonding material to attach and seal it to the tooth. In both treatments, the bonding material may actually improve the strength of the tooth.

Dr. Pham and her team is amazing. She is very patient and kind. Her staff provides great customer service and are very welcoming. She is thorough with the examinations and explains what the procedures entail very well. She is gentle and careful with all procedures. I had a deep clean and 2 wisdom teeth extracted. I highly recommend her if you need to go see a dentist but are fearful.

I've avoided going to the dentist for most of my life because of past traumatic experiences, but I had an emergency and found emmy dental. I immediately felt at ease in their office, all staff were welcoming and had a calming presence. Dr. Shannon Pham was so gentle and never made me feel insecure about the state of my teeth. She genuinely cares about her work and it's obvious. I've already recommended Emmy dental to a friend.

My sister comes to place for her check up every 6 months. The staff and the orthodontist have been really professional, very kind, and knowledgeable. They take her serious and they have empathy whenever she complains about something hurting in her mouth. I love this place, I highly recommend.

Dr. Pham is awesome. I get terrible anxiety after getting the numbing shots before getting a filling fixed or a new one. In past experiences with other dentists I’ve even nearly passed out, gotten super dizzy, thrown up, sweating, etc….

Dr Pham was the first dentist to offer me laughing gas, so I tried it, and it worked. I felt calm, I didn’t have a panic attack, my vitals all normalized.

I can’t believe none of the other dentists offered me this even after my complaints. I appreciate Dr. Pham considering my issues instead of just forcing me through a procedure.
